InterWorks conducted a UNHCR Situational Emergency Training (SET) workshop in Goma, Democratic Republic of the Congo from 14-18 September 2009. The 5-day training course covered topics such as Contingency Planning, Coordination in Complex Emergencies, the Civil-Military Relationship in Complex Emergencies, Safety and Security in the Field specific to the DRC, Reducing Tensions and Hostility in the Field, Negotiation Basics and for Humanitarian Field Operations, Logistics Challenges and Solutions, and Managing Stress in the Field. A critical incident management table-top simulation was conducted that incorporated the learning from the workshop in application.
