FSA Workshop

United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) | Apr 2014

InterWorks facilitated, along with the UNHCR Global Learning Centre and FSS, an FSA workshop for UNHCR field safety staff in Budapest, Hungary from 7-11 April 2014. The four and a half day event was attended by 22 UNHCR field safety staff, including Senior Regional Field Safety Advisors, Field Safety Advisors and Field Safety Associates.

The workshop touched on several key areas where UNHCR FSAs must be proficient but focused on development of the FSA planning cycle in line with UNHCR’s overall planning cycle and an orientation of field safety staff to costing and budgeting issues related to security. The overall objectives of the workshop were to:

  • Draft an annual FSA Planning Cycle
  • Improve abilities to budget for security
  • Increase knowledge of various mitigation measures
  • Learn tips to improve your ability to persuade and influence others to act upon your advice
  • Increase understanding of UNHCR’s broader mission and how to support it

It was a good experience. Beyond of the information, the opportunity to meet colleagues and know security situation in other countries.
