Humanitarian Response Network of Canada (HRN) Dec 2016
InterWorks conducted a 5-Day Training of Trainers Course (TOT) on Sphere for the Humanitarian Response Network of Canada from December 12-16, 2016 in Winnipeg, Canada. The workshop was designed to help selected HRN members present training sessions and facilitate interactive exercises based on the 2011 version of the Sphere Guide and the available companion training resources. The workshop was also designed to provide an opportunity for practice and growth as a trainer/facilitator for any topic. It presented the “experiential learning” approach to training and facilitation and provided workshop participants an opportunity to practice these skills during the course. The workshop content focused on technical chapters of Sphere and training techniques and approaches. Other significant Sphere content was accomplished before the workshop began through the requirement to complete the Sphere on-line training course “Sphere in Action E-learning Course”. The training made use of short PowerPoint presentations, individual and group exercises, interactive participation, and video feedback, with peer- and self-review.
In general I really enjoyed the course and learning from the other participants. The trainers didn’t get in the way of the experience in the room. Well timed, covered a lot in interesting and memorable ways. A week well spent!
