The COVID-19 pandemic affected education and continuity of learning. Apart from 23 million out of school children, closure of education institutions due to COVID-19 has directly impacted 42 million school going learners from pre-primary and primary to higher secondary and degree college levels. Interworks assisted the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) with their Quality of Education Improvement Programme (QEIP) in Yemen. In close communication with all involved actors, including the UNESCO and GPE, Interworks provided an in-depth review of funding documents and ensured quality according to GPE guidelines.
InterWorks updated The Sphere Training Pack based on the content of the 2018 edition of the Sphere Handbook. The comprehensive training pack supports humanitarian professionals wishing to learn more about Sphere and humanitarian standards or deliver training themselves. Read more
InterWorks supported the development and implementation of an e-Forum entitled: Leaving no one behind: planning for inclusion of displaced population in the education sector. Working as part of a team of organizers, including IIEP, UNHCR, PEIC and GPE staff, InterWorks assisted in the preparation of forum, moderated the discussion during the forum and assisted with the development of a final report at the forum’s conclusion. In June 2012 the Ministries of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan with responsibilities for the Education Sector (Ministry of Education; Ministry of Higher Education; Ministry of Labor, Social Affairs, Martyrs and Disabled; and Ministry of Women’s Affairs), their Development Partners and other stakeholders held an annual Education Joint Sector Review.
