
Charles Dufresne
Charles Dufresne provides facilitation, training design and development, strategic planning services to non-profits, public institutions, utilities, government agencies, NGOs and multilateral international organizations, including the United Nations.
Fluent in English and Spanish, and proficient in French, Mr. Dufresne has facilitated workshops in all three languages and worked in 45 countries throughout the world including in Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean, the Middle East, Asia and the Pacific, the Caucasus and Central Asia.
He combines over 18 years of cross-cultural experience and a passion for designing, facilitating and managing customized education and training programs, experiential workshops, planning retreats, focus groups and multi-stakeholder meetings, in the U.S., and globally, resulting in enhanced capacity, performance and collaboration of individuals, teams and organizations dedicated to advancing sustainability, disaster preparedness, resiliency, humanitarian response and peacebuilding. As the former Director of Education at Seventhwave, he was responsible for client relations, business development and leading a 5-person team charged with implementing $1.25 million USD in continuing education training programs, webinars and conferences to accelerate sustainability in the built environment.
He has served as lead facilitator for various UN interagency workshops and forums including the UNCT strategic planning retreats (UNDAF/SPRs); DPKO’s Conflict Analysis and Strategic Assessments workshop; DPKO Transition Planning workshop; UNSSC’s conflict early warning and prevention training (with DPA); UNDOCO-IMPP’s strategic planning & integration workshop; UNSSC human rights based approach (HRBA) training; UNOCHA’s humanitarian cluster leadership training and the IASC’s emergency team leadership programme (managed by UNHCR).
He holds a Master’s degree in Continuing and Vocational Education and speaks fluent Spanish. He is a Certified Professional in Learning & Performance (CPLP/ATD) and a Certified Change Manager (from Prosci/ADKAR).
