UNHCR jointly conducted with InterWorks a Situational Emergency Training from 2-4 October 2023 in Nouakchott, Mauritania.
The workshop was designed to strengthen the capacity of UNHCR and its partners to prepare, coordinate and better respond to refugee emergencies. As part of the workshop, participants reviewed and prioritized actions from a list of preparedness measures to be implemented after the workshop, including next steps for refining or developing emergency plans.
Workshop session themes included: emergency scenarios, protection in emergencies, coordination structures in emergencies, Sphere indicators, Out-of-Camp Response, PSEA and emergency preparedness and contingency planning. All sessions were delivered in French.
