InterWorks facilitated a Training of Trainers workshop in Chengdu, China from 13-16 April 2010 for UNESCO in collaboration with the Chinese National Commission for UNESCO (NatCom), the Chinese Ministry of Education (MoE) and the Education Department of Sichuan Province. The course focused on the role of education officials in identifying hazards and reducing the risk (impact and vulnerability) of disasters on the education sector in China. Participants in these workshops included education policymakers, administrators, teacher educators and teachers of national and local level. The workshop drew on a wide range of training methodologies and facilitation techniques, including short presentations, group work, facilitated discussion and a role play exercise. It also included sessions related to adult learning and nearly a full-day devoted to facilitation practice amongst participants.
