Evaluation of UNESCO’s Programme of Emergency Support to the Education System in Gaza

UNESCO | Mar 2012

InterWorks conducted an evaluation from 31 January – 5 February 2012 of UNESCO’s Programme of Emergency Support to the Education system in Gaza to measure the overall effectiveness of the programme activities.

The programme was developed in response to identified sector priorities and gap areas and was based on the principles and standards of the INEE Minimum Standards for Education: Preparedness, Response and Recovery. The programme activities included support to secondary and higher education and initiatives to improve the preparedness of the education system in Gaza for future emergencies – whether related to conflict or to natural disasters – in order to respond effectively to minimize the physical and psychosocial effects and the disruptions to education that occur as a result of such emergencies.
