InterWorks designed and conducted a Situational Emergency Training (SET) in Refugee Management for UNHCR Djibouti in Djibouti Ville, Republic of Djibouti from 28 November – 1 December 2016. The UNHCR Representation in the Republic of Djibouti requested the assistance of the UNHCR Global Learning Centre (GLC) through UNHCR Emergency Services, who worked with InterWorks, to develop a training for Djibouti and assist them in the finalization of their contingency plan to address a potential Ethiopian refugee influx.

The SET was designed to strengthen the knowledge base of the participants and bolster the level of preparedness of the various UNHCR offices, their NGO and UN partners, and collaborative government agencies. Beyond the provision of relevant tools, the SET allowed participants to better understand their respective roles within the context of a coordinated response to a refugee influx. The workshop, conducted in French and attended by 43 participants, encouraged sharing of field realities and best practices within the Djiboutian context, while providing standards and tools by the facilitation team.

One BIG thank you for this valuable training session.
