United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) Inter-Agency Standing Committee (IASC) Sep 2016
The seventeenth Inter-Agency Standing Committee (IASC) Emergency Team Leadership Programme (ETLP) workshop was held from 25-29 September 2016 at the Grand Millennium Hotel in Dubai. This ETLP was facilitated in conjunction with the UNHCR Global Learning Center. The course has been conducted for IASC member institution participants since March 2006.
The IASC ETLP is designed and developed from the results of an IASC training needs assessment which identified the need for enhanced emergency team leadership based on a number of competencies which contribute to one’s optimal performance as an emergency team leader. The ETLP is a blended learning programme consisting of a pre-workshop phase with readings, peer feedback and self-assessments, a face-to-face workshop and a post-workshop learning phase.
The purpose of the ETLP is to foster effective, efficient and professional team leadership in humanitarian emergency settings by improving the team leadership competencies of participants in their roles as emergency team leaders. By participating fully in this programme, participants gain greater self-awareness as an emergency team leader and refine skills which will help them build, influence and lead a team which is cohesive, effective and dedicated to performing at its best.
Eighteen participants attended this workshop, which included participants from UNHCR, UNICEF, WFP, OCHA, UNDP, OHCHR, FAO, Mercy Corps, Syria Relief, Civil Development Organization (CDO), Ghiras Foundation, Caritas, Amel Association, and Harikar NGO.
Great course, would recommend it not only to TLs but to team members as well, highly participatory, dynamic, relevant, highly competent facilitators..
