United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) Oct 2009
InterWorks conducted a Basics of International Humanitarian Response workshop from 5 – 12 October 2009 in Hua Hin, Thailand. The course focused on 3 main elements of international humanitarian response: (1) Technical knowledge of the humanitarian ‘sectors’, (2) practical field skills, such as radio usage, GPS and map reading, first aid, etc., and (3) coordination (including negotiation and communication skills) of the multiple international and local responders into an effective humanitarian response. The course was held near Pranburi, Thailand, in order to take advantage resources offered by the nearby Camp Thanarat, (Royal Thai Army Infantry Training Center) which has been used extensively in the eCentre’s various security-related courses for field security simulations.
Feel so honored and privileged to being a part of this workshop. Indeed, the inputs made by the facilitators are very essential and practical in the actual field operations. Facilitators are well-equipped with knowledge and skills as well.
