InterWorks conducted an Emergency Response and Contingency Planning Workshop in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea from 6-8 March 2007. The workshop was developed as part of the One United Nations’ objectives to enhance capacity in the emergency response and contingency planning in Papua New Guinea, and was jointly organized by UNHCR and the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA). The workshop was a concise, three-day introduction to the basics of coordination and contingency planning for humanitarian response to emergencies following natural disasters or conflict-related crisis which may escalate to a large scale movement of population or a massive displacement.
