Lynne Bethke |

Lynne Bethke has extensive training, research, planning and evaluation experience in the field of education in emergencies and early reconstruction. Through the UNESCO International Institute for Educational Planning she worked with the Ministry of Education in Afghanistan to help develop its first two National Education Strategic Plans and conducted a review of progress in the primary and secondary education sub-sector as part of the Education Joint Sector Review. She evaluated the UNESCO Programme of Emergency Support to the Education System in Gaza and the Myanmar Education Recovery Programme as well as the UNICEF tsunami response in the education sector in Indonesia and the UNHCR-Norwegian Refugee Council education agreement for stand-by staff. In addition she has extensive experience in designing and delivering security training for humanitarian workers. She has implemented training and capacity building programs for government education officials, UN and NGOs including UNESCO, UNESCO-IIEP, UNHCR, UNICEF and the Inter-Agency Network for Education in Emergencies (INEE).

Charles Dufresne |

Charles Dufresne provides facilitation, training design and development, strategic planning services to non-profits, public institutions, utilities, government agencies, NGOs and multilateral international organizations, including the United Nations.

Fluent in English and Spanish, and proficient in French, Mr. Dufresne has facilitated workshops in all three languages and worked in 45 countries throughout the world including in Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean, the Middle East, Asia and the Pacific, the Caucasus and Central Asia.

He combines over 18 years of cross-cultural experience and a passion for designing, facilitating and managing customized education and training programs, experiential workshops, planning retreats, focus groups and multi-stakeholder meetings, in the U.S., and globally, resulting in enhanced capacity, performance and collaboration of individuals, teams and organizations dedicated to advancing sustainability, disaster preparedness, resiliency, humanitarian response and peacebuilding. As the former Director of Education at Seventhwave, he was responsible for client relations, business development and leading a 5-person team charged with implementing $1.25 million USD in continuing education training programs, webinars and conferences to accelerate sustainability in the built environment.

He has served as lead facilitator for various UN interagency workshops and forums including the UNCT strategic planning retreats (UNDAF/SPRs); DPKO’s Conflict Analysis and Strategic Assessments workshop; DPKO Transition Planning workshop; UNSSC’s conflict early warning and prevention training (with DPA); UNDOCO-IMPP’s strategic planning & integration workshop; UNSSC human rights based approach (HRBA) training; UNOCHA’s humanitarian cluster leadership training and the IASC’s emergency team leadership programme (managed by UNHCR).

He holds a Master’s degree in Continuing and Vocational Education and speaks fluent Spanish. He is a Certified Professional in Learning & Performance (CPLP/ATD) and a Certified Change Manager (from Prosci/ADKAR).

Jim Good |

Jim Good has over 20 years experience in emergency planning, post-disaster reconstruction, emergency management training, disaster simulation design, disaster and program assessment, and workshop facilitation. He was responsible for producing distance education materials for the UNHCR Emergency Preparedness & Response section (now called the Emergency Capacity Management Section ECMS). Additionally, Jim has developed training distance education program materials and training videos for the UNHCR Emergency Management Training Programme (EMTP) and the American Salvation Army’s National Disaster Training Program. He was a contributor for the 2004 edition of the Sphere Handbook and is a trainer for the Sphere Project on Minimum Standards in Disaster Response. Jim continues to offer training of trainers courses for the new 2011 SPHERE edition. Jim has done post-disaster reconstruction planning for the Federal Emergency Management Agency and emergency preparedness assessments for USAID/OFDA. He was the Global Coordinator for the UNHCR Emergency Management Training Programme from 1992-2000. Jim also developed training materials related to reconstruction programs, migration management, refugee emergency management and security risk management for international humanitarian field work. Mr. Good is conversant in Russian.

DeVon Solomon |

DeVon Solomon’s international relief and development work has included duties in emergency relief, humanitarian assistance, disaster response and preparedness, as well as post-disaster recovery and reconstruction. The majority of his work experience has been within the United Nations system, having worked with UNDP, OHCHR, ILO and FAO. He has lived and worked in approximately 10 countries throughout Africa, Europe, the United States and the Pacific Islands.

DeVon is a dedicated international development professional with hands-on experience managing multi-million dollar national and regional development projects with international, governmental, and non-profit organizations, with specific implementation experience in field missions in Africa. Beyond his UN experience, DeVon has also worked in the field with the United States Peace Corps, USAID, the FDNY and the Millennium Challenge Corporation.

He is a native English speaker but is conversant in French, Italian and I-Kiribati.

Donna Tarpinian |

Donna Tarpinian has almost 30 years experience in analysis, design, and development of business systems across a variety of industries. For the past 15 years, she has supported organizations with accounting, reporting and information technology needs.

At InterWorks, Donna manages the day-to-day business, including accounts payable and receivable, contracts, and technical and project support as needed.
