At the request of the UNHCR Somalia, InterWorks co-designed and facilitated a trio of events for UNHCR Somalia in Nairobi and Naivasha, Kenya from 22 -26 February 2016.

A UNHCR Somalia Operations Review and Planning Meeting was held the first two days with a total of 34 participants from offices in Nairobi, Mogadishu, Hargeisa, Galkayo, Bossaso and Garowe. Participants reviewed the 2015 program, strategic priorities, activities and objectives by PPG, including current population trends and statistics and lessons learned from 2015. They reviewed 2016 end-of-year targets, performed visioning and planning exercises for 2017 and prepared for draft 2017 COP.

Immediately following the operations review and planning meeting, a UNHCR Somalia Partners/Donors Meeting was held. The one-day event was attended by over 20 partners and donors who were actively engaged in posing questions and providing commentary to their specific areas of concern.

The final event of the week was the UNHCR Somalia All Staff Retreat. This day and a half retreat was held for the 118 UNHCR Somalia staff members. The retreat gave staff members an opportunity to meet each other, work in new teams, interact and learn new skills and knowledge in a teambuilding atmosphere. Results from a January/February 2016 Staff Survey were shared. Lastly, staff identified areas of achievement and lessons learned.

The facilitators did a fantastic job in handling over 100 participants from diverse backgrounds.
